This throw takes, as its inspiration, imperial linens from a wedding trousseau of
yesteryear. It is made from old curtain materials (cream velveteen & sumptuous pewter & light grape silk brocade), once belonging to a grand old home in Bikaner, India. I have cut &
repurposed these fabrics, which are in excellent condition, and added thick, pastel pink, lace trim (on two sides) & two bright, gold metallic ribbons (down the centre) to offset the pewter
patterned weave in the brocade.
It is a piece for the nostalgic 'antique look' lover, & maybe for a palace trousseau of the future!
(Looks regal on a bed or daybed with off-white & silver pillows.)
Light, delicate brocade, medium-weight velveteen
Brocade sewn in the middle of the throw (1.15 m)
Velveteen sewn on either side (57.5 cm x 2)
